[ Class Tumblr ]
Since we are studying social media, it only seems right that we utilize social media for traditional classroom activities such as reading responses, sharing of information and turning in assignments. Therefore, as a class we will all contribute to our own Tumblr site, https://www.tumblr.com/blog/udengl413.
Step One:
I will invite you to be a member of the site. The email invite will go to your UDel email account. Follow the directions given in the email to join the site. We will spend a little time in class making sure everyone can navigate to our site and knows how to post to our site.
Step Two:
For most readings we do, you will post a reading response to the class Tumblr. Most of the time, you will respond to a question I pose the class before. Each response will be only 75 words. These responses should show engagement with the readings. Showing engagement in 75 words or less asks you to be thoughtful and concise in what you choose to write about. Your thoughts and reflections should be cohesive and easy to follow. If you make a claim, you must show support.
You should tag your responses with the title of the reading.
You can be creative! You can always post links, pictures or gifs that are appropriate to the reading you are responding to!
Step Three:
You will post an article each week about social media. These articles can cover a wide range of topics, but must relate to social media in some way. Additionally, you will write a brief summary of the article and state why you think it was important/worthy to share with the class.
You should tag these with an appropriate key term related to the article.
Step Four:
Many of our in-class activities will revolve around online spaces. You should be prepared to post these activities on the Tumblr. Major class projects may be turned in through Tumblr as well.

Other Things to Consider:
- This is a public space. Please be courteous, respectful and polite when you are interacting with others on this site.
- You should check our class Tumblr beyond days when something is due. I will use this space to make announcements and reminders and if you do not check regularly, you may miss them. I expect you to check it at least once a day.
- This is worth 20% of your overall grade. Missing one will not affect your grade, but missing 2-3 or more will.
